Contentment of the Soul

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

حسبنا الله و نعم الوكيل

Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs for us

A powerful ayat that brings a level of peace & spiritual upliftment when read during Dhir ( a form of workship by praising the almighty & prophets of Allah).  My question always stumbled upon as to why this Ayat is close to my heart. Upon my quest for spiritual upliftment & research into the revelation of this Ayat, It is narrated that this Ayat was revealed to Prophet Ibrahim ( Abraham) & Prophet Muhammed as they were going through times of difficulties. Both Prophets had different challenges & perspective when the Ayat was revealed, however this Ayat brought a sense of tranquillity to ease the calamities which they were going through.

How beautiful is this Ayat ? taking a trip down memory lane, during the 40 days prayer when my mothers soul has left the body, I heard this Ayat, not understanding the meaning while partaking in the Thikr, not understanding what it meant, I was in a mental, emotional & spiritual state when reciting the words of Hasbunallah Wal Nikmal Wakeel. Listening to these words being chanted in a melodious form, my physical form lead had me feeling shivers that quivered through my body, in the process bringing me into a state of an emotional breakdown that where tears flowed down both my cheeks.

Imagine this, you close your eyes, in complete isolation & you disconnect from the world. Its just you.

You find yourself falling into a leap of faith and trust with your creator and begin the recitation of Hasbunallah Wal Nikmal Wakeel.  You find yourself chanting this verse which begins to feel that everything around you is timeless. You soul is connected. Depending on the level of trust you have with your creator and depending on how pure your soul and intentions are, I find myself giving it all that emotionally, I break down every time in Isolation. The feeling of being able to engage with your rabb and also with the Farishta (Angels) surrounding you, you begin gradually to fall into a spiritual upliftment state, physically you appear to be located in one place, spiritually you are elevated. This is a form of Haal. (Islamic Term)

Haal

- This state only occurs when an individual acquires the knowledge of the creator by finding out who is Allah before actually worshipping or praising Allah

- The most influential organ to reach this state is the pureness of the heart.

- Prophet Muhammed has narrated that, in the body there is an organ, if this organ is healthy, the whole body becomes healthy, if is unhealthy, the body becomes diseased. This organ is the heart.

- It is also narrated in the quraan that the whole seven heavens and earth cannot contain Allah, however the heart of a faithful servant is enough to contain Allah.

- Quraan 33:4, And Allah has not put for any individual 2 hearts in the body.

A healthy heart is therefore a reflection of emotional beauty and piety. The spirit and soul is the driving forces that gives life to the heart.

Different states of the Soul

1) A state is that in which the heart is inclined to doing evil. The heart or soul in this state is referred to a soul inclined in evil. Most forms of Evil is from desires. Allah covers the heart with a veil and the person in this form will be blinded by desires & materialism etc.

Quraan 12:53 Indeed the soul is certainly prone to evil, except the one which my lord has bestowed his mercy upon.

What a beautiful revelation, it simply shows that that naturally we all have desires, aspirations and is inclined towards materialism, however  a sincere worshipper who has complete trust, devotion and pure intentions will have the mercy of the lord covering them. This can also be lined to Hasbunallah Wal Nikmal Wakeel. (God is sufficient for us and he is the best disposer of our affairs).

2) A state in which the soul can differentiate between Good and Evil due to inspiration it receives from Allah.  The soul in this state is known as the inspired soul.

Quraan: 91:7-8 : By the soul and its proportioning and its being inspired as to what makes it evil and what makes it pious.

3) A state in which the soul becomes content, it is referred to as the contented soul.

Quraan: 13:27 And those who content their heart with the remembrance of Allah. Indeed, by remembrance of Allah do hearts achieve contentment. Our goal will be to always try to reach to this level, and once achieved Allah’s promise to this soul will be blessed with boundless amount of blessings.
